Once Knibbsy had sliced through to open our scoring from a Mark Winter/Stu Norton break, Leos seemed to be content to maintain Goole's and the crowds interest in the game by periodically allowing them to open up a lead by giving away penalties, but then to claw our way back in via thrilling flashes of open rugby. Our new-look team is slowly coalescing, and, once consistency is achieved, has the potential to inflict real damage in the coming weeks.
Tom Bindloss flopped on to Mark's clever grubber through to keep us in touch at the break. The second half followed the pattern of the first but Leos were always close enough thanks to the herculean efforts of forwards John Warwick, Kris Stafford and Gareth Chesters. In the dying moments, Knibbsy opened up the defence like a can of beans to secure the winning try. Mark "Toblerone Boot" Winter elected to miss the kick in front of the sticks in an effort to ensure that no-one left before the final whistle.
