On a glorious spring afternoon Leos travelled to Doncaster Phoenix and came off second best against a home side who without question were the best team we have played this season.
The facilities and influx of players under the guidance of home coach Doug Trivella are there for all to see and on this performance it is rather baffling why they are not top of the league.
Leos did not get the rub of the green and the penalty count of 3:1 in favour of the home side meant an even "tougher day at the office" but the reality was on the day Doncaster were worthy winners and deserved the 2 league points.
The Leos man of the match award was between 3 players, acting skipper James Knibbs who despite the defeat showed good leadership, looked dangerous with ball in hand and showed good defensive qualities against the home centres whose physiques were larger than all 4 second rows!!!
Tim Fforde who once more won great line out ball and was in the heart of the forward action and Matt Freear at 10 linked well and tried to distribute the ball to the backs wherever possible.
The split decision went to James Knibbs
