Although it looked like Leos might have to settle for playing with themselves at one point, Heath emerged from the fog just in the nick of time.
Arriving with 9 players, It was decided that a game of rugby league would be better. So Leos evened the sides up to 13 each. In keeping with the spirit, scrums were uncontested and the ball was handed over within 6 (if any) tackles, the line out remained however.
Plenty of old school rugby followed with the occasional burst of speed or sleight of foot from the back lines, typically it was Leos scoring in the early exchanges but the Heathodiensian Franken-team soon tired of this and employed a route one game plan, eventually notching up a couple of tries of their own.
At half time a few of the blues became greens and vice versa as teams switched over and the second half carried on in the same spirit, all ushered along by the imposing Nick Burdon, referee extraordinaire.
Exact details of the game escape me but everyone shook hands after a gruelling 60 minutes, some hecklers even showed up to chuck in their two pence.
Leos eventually won 6 tries to 4, there were some conversions also but they're not really in the spirit of the game.
Both sides will face sterner tests over the cold winter but there really is nothing better than a good game of social rugby followed by watching England topple Australia for the 4th time in a year.
