A mixed squad of Leo’s eschewed the Easter Egg hunt for a welcome game of rugby on the quick thawing back pitch.

The visiting Birkenhead tourists had been enjoying the delights of Leeds nightlife but were surprised by the generosity of their hosts throughout an entertaining encounter.
In a game which ebbed and flowed throughout, the lead changing hands with the speed of a Bindloss knock on there was some sublime and also ridiculous rugby on display. Referee Megabus kept a light hand in the tiller as the visiting backs were allowed a generously small 10 yards but the game was played in the right touring spirit for the most part. Twedds gifted the visitors an interception lead before slicing through the hung-over defence for a face saving try for him and the team. Si Dowling then offered up another interception chance as the scousers really were stealing candy from babies! The pack recovered enough composure for some Scotty driven mauls as hard yards were earned and another reply scored. However, Leo’s are a gift that keeps on giving and Chunk handed over a third interception for the tourists to finish the first half with their noses in front.
Leo’s upped the concentration and application in the second half and whilst the forward conflict became more aggressive and tetchy the backs were able to run wild and free, scoring tries to put Leo’s in front. Chunk redeemed himself with a try and his own conversion before the visitors scored a genuine try of quality rather than a steal. With the clock ticking down and Leo’s comfortably in territorial and points advantage they conspired once again to offer up the game to Parkonians. First the Scotty/Dowling lifting unit malfunctioned at a 5 metre lineout leaving CJ grounded, squandering possession and opportunity. From the resulting scrum the Leo’s pack engaged reverse and the visitors thieved possession before a truly stunning length of the field try won them the match. Daylight robbery!
